Suzette Kurtz is the Director of Community Relations and is involved in networking and marketing, recruiting, gathering resource information, and providing the extra “little things” of caring for and celebrating Sages’ Caregivers and clients. She was initially a Caregiver and has been with Sages from its start. Having lost her mom following a 3-year decline, her mantra as a Caregiver was, “How would I want my mom to be treated?” While her role at Sages has changed, Suzette continues to be passionate about quality, holistic care and connecting people to resources that make a difference in their lives.

Suzette was born and raised in Guatemala where her parents were missionaries. She has also lived in Texas, North Carolina, Illinois, and most recently in Colorado Springs for 25 years. After earning a BA in American Intercultural Ministries from Moody Bible Institute, she worked at a community youth ministry in an underserved urban area of Chicago where she met her husband, Dan, of 31 years. This was followed by earning a Master of Social Work from Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago after which she worked as a Social Worker in a psychiatric hospital and as a therapist in a group home for children in the foster care system.

Becoming a mom of their only child brought with it great joy, and the years that followed were filled with a variety of part-time jobs that fit around her family’s schedule of school, homework, play dates, church, and too many sporting events to count.

Suzette is now thrilled to be a grandma, and enjoys opportunities to FaceTime and visit her son, daughter-in-law, and her adorable grandbaby who live out of state. Dan and she are also blessed to have her father live with them. Faith, family, and friends take priority, and they love to enjoy the beauty of Colorado and taking trips into the mountains.
