Holding Space: Understanding Grief & Mourning in Community
Grief is a natural part of the human experience, yet it’s often misunderstood or quietly carried alone. In this powerful Dine and Develop session, Sarah from the Voices of Grief Support and Education Center will guide us through the essential differences between grief and mourning—and how we, as professionals and community members, can better support those navigating loss.
Drawing from her personal journey into hospice chaplaincy and her work expanding access to grief education in the Pikes Peak Region, Sarah will share insights into healthy grief practices, the role of community in healing, and why “holding space” can be one of the most meaningful things we offer someone in pain.
Join us for an honest, compassionate conversation about how we can show up for one another when it matters most.

Sarah Lee, Voices of Grief, Program Director
BA in Psychology; MA in Theology, Fuller Seminary
Sarah is one of the co-founders of the Voices of Grief Support and Education Center, a local non-profit organization which was founded in March 2022 to expand access to grief support across the Pikes Peak Region and to educate our community regarding healthy practices of grief and mourning. After serving for 20 years in the world of non-profit administration, Sarah took a courageous mid-life jump into graduate school with the vision of serving families as a hospice chaplain. But she was surprised during that time to uncover an even deeper passion for grief support. Since 2020 she has been partnering with the Voices of Grief Executive Director, Kathy Sparnins, to expand their outreach and impact in the community. Sarah's conviction is that a supportive, compassionate community is the key to healing our wounds of loss. Hope indeed nurtures healing.
